Good Will Hunting Movie Review By: Ethan Trinh

Image
Actually I saw this because of I wanted to notice what the Boston, Massachusetts cultural is like.. anyways— Matt Damon, Ben and Casey Affleck, Robin Williams, Minnie Driver, Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd put on a stellar act to their roles! I really dig the closeness between Will and Sean after their distastefulness with one another, totally dig the therapy scene where Sean Maguire talked to Will Hunting about the Red Sox’s game. And for Professor Maguire meeting his late wife at the bar and how they spoke about first dates and how his wife farted in her sleep. They slightly broke character which was one of those golden moments in this film! I didn’t like how Matt Damon’s role acquired him to be a jerk to Robin William’s part, any-who Good Will Hunting is a limitless project Directed by Gus Van Sant... made by Damon & Affleck. I could feel Will’s disheartens upon his life which was sadistic, so I understood his part in this project. There's awesome quips in this drama/romance 1997 film-

The Breakfast Club Movie Review By: Ethan Trinh

Image
First off, I have the movie poster in my room. Second off, I fricking love this 80s vibe to The Breakfast Club. It was the 80's and it was fantastic. Third off— Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy, Paul Gleason were the general misfits who had a rebel inside themselves, they however had a marvelous bond with one another later in the making of the drama. I loved John Hughes work, it’s artsy and cool! It really saddens my heart he’s gone but he lives on spiritually to become one of the truest filmmakers in the cinema’s history! I really wanna visit the high school that was filmed in this iconic coming of age film, it’s on my bucket list! John Bender, Andrew Clark, Brian Johnson, Claire Standish, Allison Reynolds... the high school students who spent the whole Saturday in detention at the library of their high school while Richard Vernon (the Dean of students or principal) aka Paul Gleason keeps a close eye on them. All of these characters

Dazed and Confused Movie Review By: Ethan Trinh

Image
Dazed and Confused is something to dream about into reality--partying with people older than you, fitting in, staying out all night, and making new friends. It was something think about as well, Jason London as Randall ‘Pink’ Floyd was the person to trust in this stoner comedy. Wiley Wiggins was a youngster, upcoming freshmen who’ve as been under Randall’s guidance. Mitch Kramer (Wiggins) is a heart of gold, always there for his freshmen friends. David Wooderson (Matthew McConaughey) as the eldest in the group whose the legend in the high school. I saw myself as Mitch Kramer as I hung out with older folks in my life, getting into excitement. But that was when I was younger, now as I get older, I feel like I'll hang out with dudes younger than me. I don't know, we will see. Most of the cast had a thoughtful personality and dialogue, one of my beloved works from Richard Linklater. This was such an exceptional cast, plot, and soundtrack! Kramer, Floyd, Wooderson, Slater (Cochran

Stuck in Love Movie Review By: Ethan Trinh

Image
This is something to speak a lot about in everyday situations— the commitment between the couples in this indie, the screenplay is the best, the soundtrack is so a well done on this motion picture directed by Josh Boone! The cast is so talented and relatable! Nat Wolff, Greg Kinnear, Lily Collins, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Liana Liberato were so memorable and exquisite to their acting! The drama and bond between some of the characters in the ending is so extraordinary, also the scene where Rusty (Wolff) realized his girlfriend, Kate (Liberato) had been raped and drugged was such a extravagant performances by Kinnear, Collins, Connelly, and especially Wolff! This movie will make you smile, cry, laugh, and just a lot of emotions in your system. It's funny how Nat Wolff's character-- Rusty, there's an actor named Rusty Joiner, he plays the man ruining the marriage of William & Erica Borgen. Also, wonderfully played by Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Connelly. It was a t

Footloose Movie Remake Review By: Ethan Trinh

Image
The remake of Footloose was outstanding, the relation between Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough as Ren McCormack & Ariel Moore was admirable! Willard Hewitt played by Miles Teller was groundbreaking, witty, and prominent! Him and Rusty (Ziah Colon) were relationship goals, Dennis Quaid whom played by Reverend Moore is momentous! Andie MacDowell was salient as the Reverend’s wife, she did such a damn good job in this remake too! This movie inspired me to dance even though I was too shy and or not interested before. Ever since watching this, Kenny Wormald has been inspiring me and influencing me in such inflicting ways, this always be one of my favorites personally. But the soundtrack is unforgettable, also the performances, the script and screenplay is marvelous! I first seen this movie back when I was twelve. I didn't remember much of it, so I revisited this film years later when I was sixteen and loved it ever since then. The difference between the remake and the original fil

Wonder Boys Movie Review By: Ethan Trinh

Image
I felt so raw and precise! Amazing performance from Tobey Maguire, Robert Downey Jr, Katie Holmes, and the legendary Michael Douglas! Every bit of each scene was surreal... in a good way.  Also loved how its subjected on writing and books as forth I wrote some books in the past and an avid reader. One can absolutely relate if they write. Books, movies, short films, music, anything. Writing is a beautiful thing and another concept of storytelling. It's wild how Michael Douglas, Robert Downey Jr, Tobey Maguire is in this movie because they worked with Marvel, in different trilogies and or franchises. But, here was when they started coming together, it was great. The acting was real natural, the cinematography was stellar, the direction was right on point. It's unbelievable how this film is based off an actual book written by Michael Chabon. Katie Holmes plays this witty college girl whose friends with Tobey Maguire's character, James Leer. She's also sexual attracted to t

Gook Movie Review By: Ethan Trinh

Image
I loved how it was all based upon two Korean American brothers, Eli (Justin Chon) & Daniel (David So) surviving the Rodney King riots... while working at their late father’s shoe store. It was perfection of the plot, cast, acting, but storyline could’ve have been told more precisely as it was a bit confusing in some parts. Overall, I can’t wait for more films directed by Justin Chon!  The brother relationship between the two main characters were powerful, I loved it! This showed a lot to present day, times like now. Where African Americans are being killed from a different race for no reason, wildfires, and just basic discrimination. It's crazy how this work of art of a film depicts what happens nowadays. This is by far one of my favorite Asian American movies out there, "Gook" is the main reason why I started to dive more into Asian American cultured flicks. I'm Vietnamese, American -- so there isn't much of my peoples in Hollywood being in movies or tv shows
